Winter Reverie

Winter Reverie

The once green tree lined street
Is cold and dismal with naked trees
Denuded by fall debarked by winter
Hanging on to dignity in pure starkness

The dogs still lift their legs in disdain
Trees wince from this indignity in vain
Holding on to hope of a better morrow
They know summer will mow their sorrow

Once again like models walking the ramp
Designer summer will green them to revamp
Sprinkle heady fragrance unique and delicate
As seasons inexorably change cycles replicate

Life too is like these avenues and trees
Cyclical in ups and downs in curvy careens
Hit or miss it is everyone’s lot implacable
Smiling regardless are the wise zen full
