Unspoken

Your silent cries
Went unheard!
Your tears, well hid
Went unseen!

Your inner turmoil
Firmly reined in by
Your outer calm
Successfully fooled me!

Clouded by my trite problems
I failed you miserably
Your heard me out patiently, always
You gave me words of wisdom, always

Your inner strength and stiff upper lip
Belied your vulnerability and inner soft core
Now my misery is complete, my self-absorption
Has made me diminish in my own eyes!

When you love, you do not say sorry
Making amends will not be easy
But try I must as I have to make amends
And learn to listen with my heart always

“I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, bit I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar.” – Robert Brault
