Unfulfilled love

Painting is by Gustavo Klimt

Chapter, verse
Prologue, epilogue
Were etched around
Your presence

Dream weaver’s haute
couture had mesmerized mind
Flooding eyes with moonshine
Stilled from moonbeams

Destiny’s grim reaper
Had writ different plans
Rudely snatching you
Without prior warning

at this life’s final juncture
memories’ tsunami has torn
asunder built dams and walls
Swallowing all hurdles in its path

Closely hugging our memories
Crafted in tender years, heart croons
as my infernal wait abates in awareness
That unfulfilled love ultimately endures
