The Hands

We give a hand
We take a hand
We help one another
Going hand in hand

Hands are very precious
Hands can do wonders
Hands can take us to pinnacles
Of success and achievements

Gifted hands on musical instrument
Can create melodies of wonderment
A mother’s hand judiciously guiding and
Nurturing can create great human beings

Hands can be joined to pray
Hands can be raised to bless
Hands can be stretched to hug
Hands can be raised to strike

Hands can pull a person down
Hands can brush off others
Hands can point an accusing finger
Realizing not three fingers pointing at self

Hands can be raised in sheer bliss
Hands can be used to curse
Hands can be rolled into fists
Hands can pull a trigger

We can write with our hands
We can eat with our hands
We can dress with our hands
We depend heavily on our hands

True value of hands is realized
When they become lifeless in paralysis
Or we lose them to amputation
Due to poisoning or accidents

We can pamper our hands
We can decorate them with rings
Precious bracelets adorning wrists
Yet, we must use them with great care

Thoughtfully
Benevolently
Happily and often
Joined in applause and prayer!!
More history is made by secret handshakes than by battles, bills and proclamations.

As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself,
the other for helping others.-Audrey Hepburn

I like to use my hands and make things… It might seem pretty stupid or
pointless but that doesn’t matter… some of the most interesting work is
the stuff that starts like that – out of a raw need for activity.
Bruce Nauman
