The Diva

(from internet- disclaimer)

The Diva

She was well endowed in form
Voice powerful, did not conform
Gliding on stage to perform
A ship had set sail in a storm!

Dressed richly with trail in velvet
Regal looks matched tiara headset
Suffered not fools per her bearing
Yet, treated crew fairly, with caring

Performance at prestigious event
Flawless t’was in awe inspiring ascent
Arias and notes wafted without fail
Gently washing over, in magical trail

At stage door she courted fans
Graceful, forbearing with panache
soon she left for home in a flurry
awaiting her was her favorite curry!

Her one weakness was this exotic dish
she ate bowlful with lip smacking relish
she cried of pain next and fell in a heap
Underlings gathering over her in a leap!

Alas, her enemies had struck suddenly
Lacing food with arsenic successfully
private physician tended her frantically
But her golden voice was gone totally!

Soon she regained robust health
enjoying her considerable wealth
golden voice was never the same
She had to rest on past laurels, fame!

Such was the sad fate of the poor Diva
Fag end of life a gray dismal saga
Legion of her admirers turned fickle
Magnificent voice was a mere trickle!
