Sunset of Life

  Twilight of life

Creeps upon me

Without warning

A rudderless boat

Sans navigator

Is thrust in the

Mainstream

Willy nilly

I float bravely

Steadying myself

With great dignity

Life attaches me

To another craft

At this juncture

I am reluctant to

Relinquish  my   freedom

To be a minnow

swallowed by a whale

losing my identity

I flail my arms causing

Ripples of consternation

Who will back down

Is the end a common goal

A faceoff  situation

My spirit is drooping

My heart is laden

Did I settle for dross

I ask myself

Face the music I must

But  tone deaf   I shall

Not be!!!!
