“If history were taught in the form of stories, it would never be forgotten.” ? Rudyard Kipling, The Collected Works “When someone is mean to me, I just make them a victim in my next book.” ? Mary Higgins Clark
Chores done they huddled around the storyteller,
agog for another folktale extracted from his fathoms
deep mind, their goody bag.
For a brief spell they found themselves riding a magic
carpet of his vivid imagination sharing an enchanting
world diametrically opposite their own
an existence of daily eking two square meals
after back breaking labor, dignity intact, pride
clutched firmly in fists.
