Solitude

Dressed
In your favorite
Shades, I wait ~
… Bolstered
By lone
Ember of hope
Flickering sporadically
Despite our histrionic
Parting ~

Grand passion
Arrived departed
Noisily
Never once
Whimpering
Pathetically ~

Reawakened pangs
Keep hope
Alive and I often feel
Your heart stopping embrace
From behind
Gently nuzzling ~

I turn around and
See your endearing
Grin, lopsided,
Hat askew as always
Twin ebony eyes
Rekindled by love
Smoldering
Messages
True ~

And then the lone
Café au lait
Arrives and I drain
My cup, eye moist
Blind sided
Hope’s ember
Having fallen
Wayside
And woe
Squatting
Inside ~

Reawakened
Snow white love
Brims over
Putting spring back
In leaden steps,
Your selections
In coat and chapeau
On back and head
I beeline once more
To our café
Where we’d
Once met and
Fallen headlong
In love ~
