plus, minus

Frida Kahlo Exhibit

life’s shadow
play often packs
quite a wallop /
feather touch
~
took two
on heart’s font
yesterday
today
~
sight of loved one
had empty nester heart
smug, muted in surfeit
of emotions
~
wave of love
froth crested had gently
sprayed gossamer
words in both hands
~
despite gingerly handling
words had gotten powdered
coating both
palms
~
spontaneously
licking words off fingers
I’d expressed emotions
through naked eyes
~
she’d raised hers
instinctually receiving
then beaming
lowered eyes
~
she
was a dear friend
inordinately gifted
in words, pictures
~
her writing
continuously raised
the bar as it tickled
ribs, funny bones
~
her art
much pleasured
sight
spirit
~
she left
yesterday
she’ll stay with me
till my remaining days
~
this heart
so full of caring
that had first rejoiced
now sorely grieves
~
all in a span
of a yesterday/today
in life’s continuous
shadow plays
~
rest in peace
dearest friend
you shall, will be
sorely missed
~
