To be Patient

It is easier said than done
When the mind is like quicksilver
Going hither and thither always
Octopus tentacles going haywire
How to still this beast. cow it down
Not easy…..

Breathing deep and heavy whilst
Steadying the racing pulse is tricky
The brain is at once a Pandora’s box
And a Medusa head with thoughts
Emanating and milling and spilling
All over……

A firm resolution to tether this cerebral
Activity and bring it to an even keel
Soothing, calming the thoughts n ideas
Slow n steady breathing with exhalations
Lasting twice the duration of inhalations
Helps somewhat…

Hyper activity finally peters out and
A slow steady rhythm comes into play
Body too stills along with the emotional
Buildup that loses its fizz and now is
Akin to an unraveled knot smoothed out
And now….

Finally patience is achieved
Whew, lots of work
But can be done if the
Will is there

am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end. Margaret Thatcher, in Observer April 4, 1989
British politician (1925 – )
