On Ownership (mood’s downward spiral)

Lulled by a false sense

of belonging, I stake claims

on loves of every ilk, silk

when I put out my hand to

touch, caress be caressed

belief’s sand did a quick shift

taking for granted, other than

self, is a tall order, when own

body and soul show no loyalty

halo placed by self on self

shifted a bit, turning awry

egg on face, made spectacle sorry

steady flame inner did exhort

weather out emotion’s tidal

be a winner, cloudburst abort!
