Heartbreak

The pebble of your word hit home, creating a ripple
The ocean of my heart got churned, birthing a tidal

Emotional waves overstepped their boundaries, inundating
Sandy shores of love, obliterating all vestiges of it, remaining

You sought to backtrack and retrieve with a fishing line of repent
In vain died such efforts, as I was at the end of my tether, of torment

Our love like two river tributaries was born in the ocean of college
We were however of different natures causing our love to ravage

Weathering this stormy relationship began to deplete our love treasure
To get final say, you superceded all decisions making our sweet love, sour

My love was strong and true n for long I continued to forgive and forget
Your ego was more important to you than our love and you did not fret

The waters of our two love tributaries finally changed courses veering
In other directions, hastened by your cutting word, mutual love dying

We exist now on other shores, reliving the could’ve been n should’ve been
Paradise once lost is hard to reclaim, alas, if only we had but this, foreseen
