Broken Heart's Wish

Broken Heart’s Wish
May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.
May your days have no numbers
Simply multiply as many zephyrs
Eyes maybe dead, seeing callous receding back
Tongue maybe tied, yet courage did not lack
May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.
All subsided- dried tears, depleted sighs, mute cries
Wish- may your joys glow like so many flying fireflies
Dry wishing well of heart’s desires, refilled magically
To belt out litanies for its heartbreaker soulfully
May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.
Loving, holding not, nor greedily letting it accrue
If love be true, releasing it freely, lovers will not rue
You have my heart and I shall always love you
Seeing you happy is all I wish, whosoever woo
May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.
May your days have no numbers
Simply multiply as many zephyrs
May you live as long as you want,
and never want as long as you live.

Had we never lov’d sae kindly, Had we never
lov’d sae blindly, Never met – or never parted
we had never been broken-hearted.
Robert Burns 1759-1796, Scottish Poet
It is a curious sensation: the sort of pain that
goes mercifully beyond our powers of feeling.
When your heart is broken, your boats are burned:
nothing matters any more. It is the end of
happiness and the beginning of peace.
George Bernard Shaw
The woman’s love is not love of herself, nor of herself
mirrored in a lover’s eyes, nor is it corrupted by need.
It is a feeling of tenderness so still and deep and warm
that it gilds every grass blade and blesses every fly.
It includes the ones who have a claim on it, and a
great deal else besides. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
Germaine Greer 1939-, Australian Feminist Writer
The last time I saw him he was walking
down lover’s lane holding his own hand
