Destiny – My Ice Breaker

Destiny – My Ice Breaker
New job new country I lived in Greenwich
Daily lunch was peanut butter jelly sandwich
Mom’s love and delicious food a distant memory
Now a cold comfort as hunger led to fare ordinary
Spoilt darling was I not knowing the value of her love
Fending on distant shores made me realize the value of
Thus I survived on frugal fare to husband my savings well
Appreciating all my good fortunes and sorrows not dwell
Seated on my favorite bench on a sunny day was a face new
Someone unknown not seen in these environs by me hitherto
Without faltering I still continued to occupy my seat next to her
As time was of the essence I opened my lunch offering it to her
She smiled and declined saying that no she had already eaten
Her face lit my days from thereon as we became pals, ice broken
Many lunches followed where we shared our fare in partnership
Gradually we moved forward to a languorous ripening courtship
Finally I decided to let my family know about my lovely wench
On a crisp clear day we exchanged vows on our favorite bench
I dedicate these rosebud words as token of love to sweetheart mine
We had wed on February 14 making her my alltime Valentine !!!
