Dear Superficial

Dear Superficial
Dear pseudo
Shunning substance
For trivial- Why?
Why ignore self
For kudos
Choosing glitter
Over gold

Raised not a fool
Why drool over
Shadowy figments
Leaving light
Look at mirror
Face your face
Find any traces
Of original self??

Masked by day
Masked by night
Wooing chosen bosses
Wooing  own tosses
Bit by bit loss
Widens to a chasm
Retreat impossible
Despite recriminates

Dear Superficial
Dear pseudo
Shunning substance
For trivial- why?
Why ignore self
For kudos
Choosing glitter
Over gold

I tried to hug you
You weren’t there
All I came up with
Was thin empty air!!
Dear Superficial
retreat i do entreat
You are  beautiful as is
 a wonderful treat!!

Dear Superficial
Dear pseudo
Shunning substance
For trivial- why?
Why ignore self
For kudos
Choosing glitter
Over gold

The most important ingredient we put into any relationship is not what we say
or what we do, but what we are. And if our words and our actions come from
superficial human relations techniques (the Personality Ethic) rather than
from our own inner core (the Character Ethic), others will sense that duplicity.
We simply won’t be able to create and sustain the foundation necessary
 for effective interdependence.
Stephen R. Covey American Speaker, Trainer,
Author of ”The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”

As we get past our superficial material wants and instant gratification we
connect to a deeper part of ourselves, as well as to others, and the universe.
Judith Wright Australian, Poet

It is only the superficial qualities that last. Man’s deeper nature is soon found out.
Oscar Wilde 1856-1900, British Author, Wit

Although for some people cinema means something superficial and glamorous,
it is something else. I think it is the mirror of the world.
Jeanne Moreau French, Actress

A man’s character never changes radically from youth to old age.
What happens is that circumstances bring out characteristics which
have not been obvious to the superficial observer.
Hesketh Pearson English, Actor
