Archive for February 2012:

One faux pas
Hell let loose
Proud lithe witty
Unhinged, awry

Piranha kettle
Seesaw- dicing time
Light and shadows
Julienne(d) frozen

Emotions run gamut
Wringing hands
Helpless dismayed tears
Fiercely bitten back

Courage loses legs
Piranha float regardless
stone faced unforgiving
Life fabric moth bitten

Final dry eyed byes
Sever love ties, turn
Genius mind, healthy body
Into bones n ashes- urn(ed)

Hits and Misses

Things change
And then not

Comfort in routine
And then not

This today usual
And then not

Plans not made
Actually panned out

Plans made
Fizzled out

Shifting sands
Life in flux

I stand stationary
Time ticks

Events impact
Inner intact

Readied to detach
Self from life’s vine

Guard still up
Gauntlet stays thrown

Foil, épée, and saber
Fencing stance always

**painting by Picasso

Caliper, Caliber, Calibration- word play

Caliber then
Caliber now
Much dilution

Audience reaction
Stage performance
Delivery recalibrated

Visages frayed in fray
Campaigns recalibrated
In political horse race

Caliper’s rendered
Becomes imprecise
Mass pulse beyond measurement

Caliper – instrument consisting essentially of two curved
hinged legs, used to measure thickness and distances
Caliber – a degree or grade of excellence or worth
Calibration – setting or correcting of a measuring device

Emotional Quilt

Salvaged from wrecks
Life’s scarred loom
Settled self doggedly
At it’s wounded tomb

Stiffened lips all aquiver
Grief stricken fingertips braced
Threaded bruised ligaments
On horizontal skeletal frame

Chameleonic pulsations
Heaving highs troughs
Began weaving weft n warp
Of embers amidst charred

Felt glimmerings of seeking
Hands from destiny’s battered
Aching for succor from souls
To whom they still mattered

Base layer was thus woven
An ephemeral quilt of sighs
Repository of squared patches
Stitched with bruised hearts’ spills

Healing hands touched
Saddened hurt filled eyes
Empathetically reached out
To them offering salve of solace

This kind gesture opened griefs’
Floodgates, triggering virtual tsunami
Of sighs, teary cascades detox
Bringing to life emotional quilt in flux

NB: when man made or natural calamities occur- many caregivers come
Forward to comfort and succor- tried to conceptualize these phenomena

**Guernica: Testimony of War
It is modern art’s most powerful antiwar statement…
created by the twentieth century’s most well-known
and least understood artist. But the mural called
Guernica is not at all what Pablo Picasso has in mind
when he agrees to paint the centerpiece for the
Spanish Pavilion of the 1937 World’s Fair.(source-internet)

Fears – Trey Triplets

Postponed decisions
On back burners
Await summons
Petals of petrified moments
Convulsed in time
Nightly come undone
Meditative mind
Constantly lassoing fears’
Bucking horses
**Scream by Edvard Munch
