Icy fingers
spread
chilled
All over
Gnawed
At joints
Disjointed head
Clarity robbed
Throbbed as
Eyes heavy
Lidded, bobbed
Sleep robbed
feel good
Feel sobbed
listless languid
spirit tried to
stand upright
awkward foal
maudlin thoughts
tried another coup
I showed them door
Happy is me always
Body may be weak
Spirit tends to soar

Revolving Door
a thinker
twirling words
uncurling locks
bunches crunched
tangled tumbled
emotional high, lows
hot coals aglow
seared simmer
in poet’s fire
stoked often
for mind’s warmth
comforts
cozy lullabies
war cries
defiance
reliance
askance
stealthily
as they tiptoe
out of poet’s back burner
into forefront at the get go
enter at will
tiptoe
in, or
exit
via
revolving
door
of a
poet’s
mind
