Contrary Twins

Day enlivens quickening life after a dark night
Yet night is comforting after a stressful busy day
So, both are welcome in their own unique way!
Love and hate are two power packed emotions
Each goads to conquer insurmountable hurdles
Love is sublime yet channeled hate wins wars
Petite or short, grand or tall are opposites of sorts
Each giving unique perspective to full spectrum of situations
Life throbs n ebbs at all levels and is meaningful at each rung
Parents of both genders are equally important in life
A mother, the mainstay of home nurtures in every way
A father provides discipline n wherewithal holding sway
Good luck and bad luck do indeed have great value
A run of good luck makes one lazy and quite careless
Bad luck driven try harder taking nothing for granted
Wealth and poverty also make an interesting disparate pair
One breeds disdain, a blasé attitude whilst other abject despair
Market vagaries are wealth’s nightmare yet leave cold the threadbare

The beginning, middle, and end of the birth, growth, and perfection of whatever we behold is from contraries, by contraries, and to contraries; and whatever contrariety is, there is action and reaction, there is motion, diversity, multitude, and order, there are degrees, succession and vicissitude.
Giordano Bruno 1548-1600, Italian Philosopher, Scientist

Every sweet has its sour; every evil its good.
Ralph Waldo Emerson 1803-1882, American Poet, Essayist
Light is meaningful only in relation to darkness, and truth presupposes error. It is these mingled opposites which people our life, which make it pungent, intoxicating. We only exist in terms of this conflict, in the zone where black and white clash.
Louis Aragon French, Poet

Fantasy love is much better than reality love. Never doing it is very exciting. The most exciting attractions are between two opposites that never meet.

Fire n Ice In Love

Your predictable reactions do not faze me
You think I am feeble and am ok with that
You wish to react and go whole nine yards
Like an indulgent know-it-all I let you be
You pout, flounce and wave your hands
You step hard on the bosom of the earth
You roll your eyes and cuss still I do not fuss
Because I know sooner than later you will settle
The fizz in your excitable self has been capped
Calmness an indicator your reason can be tapped
Patiently I wait for you to see things my way
We both know that is the only rational way!!
Not flying off the handle at the drop of a hat
Being staid and stodgy is not all that bad
You think I am feeble but let me remind you
Tortoise was winner in end, that’s no drivel
Icy veins, level head do not feebleness make
Neither hair pulling dramatics a sage make
Acting out your angst is okay yet reaction and action
Are two different critters and need different handling
Be not misled by my feebleness as it is tempered with steel
I usually get my way in end as you well know and concede
Why then be a recalcitrant child and fly off the handle
Many ways to skin a cat why waste energy, your eyelids bat!!!
Feeble I am not, know that for sure
Your love has made me feeble and
I wish that my love makes you feeble too
Lets be feeble together to strengthen our love

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety. Other women cloy the appetites they feed, but she makes hungry where most she satisfies.
Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs. Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers eyes. Being vexed, a sea nourished with lovers tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, a choking gall and a preserving sweet.
William Shakespeare 1564-1616, British Poet, Playwright, Actor

Waiting Mom  – I

That quintessential bundle of energy and love
Can be seen waiting eagerly with a creased brow

Dinner ready and dad ensconced in favorite armchair
Mom wants her missing offspring safely back in her lair

Diligently she scans the streets standing in the doorway
Her silhouette creating moving shadows at the end of day

She quizzes the neighbors and the known people returning home
Beaming face and welcoming smile waning not as her eyes roam

Mother hen’s moving neck is like a wide encompassing camera’s lens
Eager vision sweeping scanning homebound throngs for her chickens

Suddenly air resounds with pitter-patter of bunch of skipping feet
She beholds her missing children returning home tired n play replete

Her face breaks into a welcoming smile and her arms open wide
Brow  smoothens, smile lighting up like rising sun’s waltzing glide

The waiting mom with her brood safely home has a spring in her feet
Lovingly feeding n singing lullabies she tucks them under cozy sheets

She can now finally feed herself and finish remaining nightly rituals
Waiting is labor of love n she repeats it daily with good humored chuckles

I have many memories of waking up to eat breakfast that my mother carefully
prepared for us and her saying, what do y’all want for lunch, and as we’re eating
lunch, what do y’all want for dinner? It’s always about the next meal
-.Lisa Loeb American, Musician

 Waiting  – II

The matriarch rests her tired body in her favorite armchair
Her bearing is regal and aged body still erect in the old knitwear
Her face shows lines of experience and many worry tracks
Faded eyes top a toothless smile dribbling on lips that are cracked

Her limbs were brittle and fragile due to penance and numerous fasts
All her life she’s pleaded with the Maker due to many fortune forecasts
With judicious love n care she has nurtured her children and grandchildren
She now rests on her laurels as they’ve become successful forces to reckon

Her place in her family is one of deference and great respect
She had earned this right with her hard work and being circumspect
Her savvy instincts make her sought after, giving her a feeling of pride
She patiently waits at final threshold of life with balance time to abide

Her memory is still quite sharp n there are lots of things she can tackle
Sounds of hymns and folklore fill the house which she narrates with a cackle
Her zest for life along with finicky taste buds and perkiness are still intact
She is dearly loved by all as they silently grieve knowing she pines to depart

The old granny has handed over family reins and all her duties are done
Over time she has said farewells to kith n kin and her beloved two sons
Like the tired sun after a day of hard work goes to rest over the horizon
She is waiting to reconnect with her mate who has preceded her n gone on

The way I see it, I can either cross the street, or I can keep waiting for another
few years of green lights to go by. – Camryn Manheim American, Actress

for becoming a grownup: long also when he surrenders his whole soul to each moment

Her face betokened all things dear and good, The light of somewhat yet to come was
there Asleep, and waiting for the opening day, When childish thoughts, like flowers

waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.

My Reality

My Reality
I realized that my reality
Is my very own not yours
Some realities are common
Some are unique n personal
And my reality suits me fine
I want to bury my head in sand
Banish all problems, vanish them
Into thin air, a dissipating mist
I choose to shut my eyes tight
Opening when the coast is clear!!

I know when these particular ones call
They have their own personal agenda
I know when those other ones call
They want my help with something
I let them call, knowing I am needed
My insecurities make me vulnerable
Exploited and sought after, not for me
I am secondary and can be dismissed
I can fetch them something, garners much coin
I am still okay with this caprice, my own Reality!!
No one is perfect and all encompassing
Give and take is part and parcel of life
Even if for me it is more gives than takes
I am still happy that my value makes me
An entity, adding body n texture to my Reality

We are dispatched as empty pots of clay
What we fill in them in life, comes into play
We can live like hermits or social butterflies
Or hang on to our reality without losing sanity
Living life up to brim in our own inimical way!!!
Alexis Carrel:
Intuition comes very close to clairvoyance;
it appears to be the extrasensory perception of reality.

Albert Einstein:
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
Byron Katie:
When you argue with reality, you lose – but only 100% of the time.
Groucho Marx:
I’m not crazy about reality, but it’s still the only place to get a decent meal.

Gustave Flaubert:
Reality does not conform to the ideal, but confirms it.

John Lennon:
Reality leaves a lot to the imagination.
Robert Heller:
Never ignore a gut feeling, but never believe that it’s enough.
Salman Rushdie:
Reality is a question of perspective; the further you get from the past,
the more concrete and plausible it seems — but as you approach the present,
 it inevitably seems incredible.

Sigmund Freud:
Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to
enjoy pleasure instead. We must therefore accept it without complaint when
they sometimes collide with a bit of reality against which they are dashed to pieces.
Tom Clancy:
The difference between fiction and reality? Fiction has to make sense.

In an ocean of commotion
I am an atoll of silence

In the cacophony of reverberations
Stillness is my blissful escape hatch
In the wired frenzies of cross currents
I am the one wired to earth
Merriment and inane gay chatter spells flood
Yet can hold not a candle to my inner glow

In an ocean of commotion
I am an atoll of silence

The incandescent flickering myriad light strings
Light up earth yet fail to match my brightness
In this mass of seething humanity- Eureka!!
I have extracted the I from MY successfully!!!
A thousand suns n galaxies I now hold in my palm
Burden free I can time travel with my soul on a lam

In an ocean of commotion
I am an atoll of silence

Confusion was my past, fusion was yesterday
Fission has now won me for me
Astride this ray of my revelation
I can now journey to my generator
Logical end to an illogical existence
Bliss and stillness my only sustenance

In an ocean of commotion
I am an atoll of silence
