Spring Has Done Sprung

spring has sprung
leaves have rung
emerging from hibernation
joining in revelry in ovation

with bated breath we wait
sun’s upward unhurried gait
variegated colors of celebration
bursting at seams all over nation

early in the spring hope rises anew
new beginnings amending all askew
dew drops sparkling as diamonds
stringed and woven on trees fronds

early in the spring there is a splash
of color into green from a brown dash
lazily nature turns her face up from sleep
It’s joy wringing smiles from eyes that weep

Early in spring or winter summer fall
One sentinel remains stoic thru it all
Others may change color like a chameleon
Verde evergreen remains resolute as a lion!

Earth in the spring, springs into action
Suns rays give new lease to life in affection
Riot of colors send all the senses spinning
Nature gives its best performance grinning

Inexorably sun marches forward with its golden wand
Converting the forest drab into spun gold and the land
Flowers and petals and buds and butterflies and bees
All clap giggle and rejoice in gay abandon and spree

**

Have seen these gardens and they are a visual delight!

We are down not OUT

Ravenous dogs of winter came riding chameleon fall hearse
They fell on us brutally tearing flesh sucking our marrow
Satiated they bayed at the morose moon hanging in sullen sky
We mourn not violent rape yet again by heartless curs of winter

Wait! Hold on! Don’t you dare feel sorry for us please!
Our heads maybe bowed as we stand stark denuded bare
But we stand proud, dignity covering our bones gnawed clean
We have no rancor in our hearts nor do we vent our spleen

Just as death is inexorable implicit and the ultimate truth
Seasons too come and go and these bad times too shall pass
We wait to receive an SMS from the anklets of the summer belle
Borne by the wind carriers from across the mountains and valleys

They are the harbingers of good tidings when we will rejuvenate
Wear colorful threads over our threadbare spines stoically supine
We’ve been tutored and blessed by monks meditating in our shade
We will be reborn to flourish n nourish the air n every creature animate

We are alive
We will survive
We will thrive
We are down, not OUT

I will Survive

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you’re back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you’d be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
’cause you’re not welcome anymore
weren’t you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I’d crumble
you think I’d lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I’ve got all my life to live
I’ve got all my love to give
and I’ll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I’m not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I’m saving all my loving
for someone who’s loving me

December Sunrise

Like a soothing warm quilted gold comforter

Glowing rays of sun extend higher and higher

Countless arms ready to fold and hold to heart

Beckoning shivering masses at dawn’s new start

Like a cheery glowing angel of light bright

Sun unfurls its golden wings on snow white

As icicles like sun catchers shimmer bright

And the winter’s white garment is set alight

Heartened at this dispel of night’s gloom n cold

Life quickens bravely emerging suddenly bold

Hustle n bustle and rustle for foraging to hoard

Making the most of this gift of light’s early goad

Night and day, light and dark join in a fray

One to freely self spread, other to give it way

Such is life also with countless joys n sorrows

One may have its day in sun, other a tomorrow

There is a reason for a changing season

Rite of passage, wait to bide or burgeon

Time to plough, sow, tend and then mow

Spring summer fall winter thus ever flow

Who wants to become a writer? And why? Because it’s the
answer to everything. To ”Why am I here?” To uselessness.
It’s the streaming reason for living. To note, to pin down,
to build up, to create, to be astonished at nothing, to cherish
the oddities, to let nothing go down the drain, to make
something, to make a great flower out of life, even if it’s a cactus.
