Misty Musings

Washed by the soft golden light of dawn
Rinsed to sparkle by erring cloudlet in morn
Peals of happy-go-lucky laughter abound
Grandpa’s house echoed such gleeful sounds

Deeply embedded in halcyon days of summer
Golden months away from home sans murmur
Kite flying and exploration is every dark cranny
Ever chided and cajoled by a frail doting granny

Those horse and buggy rides to the park
Rivalry with cousins and siblings sparks
Amidst sounds of cow moos n mews n barks
Always on the lookout for more daring larks

Bitten by the muse held many impromptu shows
Amidst sudden outbursts of furious raging rows
Calming gentler tones of elders to mollify n cow
All come rushing to fore in pleasurable waves now!!
Those lazy crazy days of gone by summers
Knock on memory’s door in soft murmurs
Foggy mind n misty eyes recall times sublime
If only we could go back in time often times

The love Letter!!

Why oh why my heart decried
Seared burnt painfully fried

Waltzing away abruptly, no inkling
Breaking my heart, blood congealing

Listless confused I pitifully blunder
Blissfully loving, I let you plunder

You showered love drenching full measure
All delirious moments in thy arms, I treasure

This sudden withdrawal leaves me shattered
Bewildered I relive all moments that mattered

Why oh why my heart decried
Seared and burnt painfully fried

Who loves so wholeheartedly then walks away, I say!
Blasphemy it is and a black day for all lovers if I may

Thus heartbroken I agitate and cogitate senselessly
Seeking needle of why in love haystack feverishly

Distracted by door chimes I hasten barefoot downstairs
Courier delivers Valentine Roses amidst envious stares

Pounding heart I skip upstairs tearing envelope in haste
Healing words soothe and assuage all pain I did taste

Sweetheart I had to beat a painful retreat to test our love
True love dictated before tying love knot of us two doves

Duly tested, love shone through bright as a newly minted coin
Forward steps retreated, dancing in tune joyfully to forever join

Love sweet love tested tried finally won and came home
Rejoicing ever after on Valentine’ Day, amen, ohm, shalom.

Daddy and mommy you both are the best
You made me so happy n that is not a jest
I can have my own beautiful puppy to play
And this will keep me out of mischief n fray
I do promise fervently that I will take every care
Train him and love him to be obedient and aware
Today my Santa came early and granted my fervent wish
I am jumping with joy as surely it will all my blues banish
I will take extra care and keep him under tight leash
Now we have to hurry up and get a bed n doggy dish
My heart it singing and my little world is now joyful
You have made me happy and I will surely be dutiful
I feel like hugging the whole world and share my bliss
Let’s seal this wonderful moment with a hug and kiss
Daddy and mommy you both are the best
You made me so happy n that is not a jest
Those glittering halcyon days of endless summers
Dirty smeared faces, torn shirts, bruised knees n runny nose
Jumping jacks and marbles, ball games n snaky garden hose

Chills and fevers ignored impatiently hearing pied piper’s drumbeat

Recollecting still gives me joy, bringing past thrills to the fore

Her features were sculpted and defined
Her rippling hair dark and straight lined
Her body erect, tall, shapely, untwined

She loved to sketch, paint and etch
Coloring her world with colors n such
Moods made them molten, intense much

Art and activism wise she was straight as an arrow
In these she knew her mind right through her marrow
All else made her heart flutter like a sparrow

She said words that were quite pleasing but light
Her promises were empty, such was her plight
She was often flaky and shaky, try as she might

She changed coloring to suit current company
Becoming charming or brash or downright funny
Like a blank canvas she donned colors for harmony

Thus she carries on in life trying to please one n all
Taking cues from those who have her in their thrall
Pleasing some, perplexing others, much to their gall

Showing her a mirror cannot be dared
Unconditional love forces she be spared
As this chameleon is much loved n cared

“We are like chameleons, we take our hue and the color of our moral character, from those
who are around us.”
John Locke quotes (English Philosopher who made great contributions in studies of politics,
government and psychology. 1632-1704)
“We are chameleons, and our partialities and prejudices change place with an easy and
blessed facility, and we are soon wonted to the change and happy in it.”
Mark Twain quotes (American Humorist, Writer and Lecturer. 1835-1910)

“A successful teacher needs: The education of a college president, The executive ability of a financier,
The humility of a deacon, The adaptability of a chameleon, The hope of an optimist, The courage of a hero,
The wisdom of a serpent, The gentleness”
: Teachers and teaching quotes.

“A chameleon does not leave one tree until he is sure of another”
Arabian Proverb quotes

Words are chameleons, which reflect the color of their environment.
American, Lawyer Quotes

Everybody in life is a chameleon.

I have a lot of chameleon qualities, I get very absorbed in my surroundings.

Air crackles in excitement
Hustle and bustle abounds
Several voices, multi tongues
All building up to a crescendo

Busy shoppers throng the streets
Frantically crisscross the pavements
Looking for the ultimate bargains
Attracted by all the glitzy windows

Chubby Santas chime the bells
Sprinkling the holiday cheer
With their melodious tinkles
Collecting for various charities

Snowflakes dance and prance
Merrily in the air hither n thither
Adding to the general melee
Whilst painting rouge on all faces

Fresh snow frosts everyone
Like icing on individual cakes
Sheathing everything in white
And purifying all it touches

A heady feeling of joy is very potent
Everyone seems to be on the crest
Of a natural refreshing high and
Goodwill and bonhomie abound

The crisp n brisk air crackles sending
Currents of electricity and briefly
The holiday spirit joins all opposing
Elements creating a blissful peace

“A holiday gives one a chance to look backward and forward, to reset oneself by an inner compass.”- May Sarton, At Seventy (A Journal)
