Carpet of Gold

Walking up the slope of my street
My eyes met with a wonderful treat
A golden carpet unfurled under my feet

The autumn leaves in a unanimous decision
Severed their veins from tree limbs in unison
Forming a golden blaze in cahoots with glowing sun

A veritable riot of generous dabs of color yellow
Gladly shedding green memories of spring mellow
And vibrant reds, shades of olive, crimson and cocoa

Actively participating in this transition of life cycle
Passively accepting fate’s decree with promises joyful
Ready to be bagged mulched churned with sighs rueful
Walking up the slope of my street
My eyes met with a wonderful treat
A golden carpet unfurled under my feet

I saw old Autumn in the misty morn stand shadowless  like silence, listening to silence.
Thomas Hood English, Poet Quotes

I loved you when love was Spring, and May, Loved you when summer deepened into June,
and now when autumn yellows all the leaves… – V. Sackville-West

We cling to our own point of view, as though everything depended on it. Yet our opinions
have no permanence; like autumn and winter, they gradually pass away
Zhuangzi Chinese, Philosopher Quotes
