Bookend life

Turkey Trip Oct6-22nd 2010 1844

What can a heart
So full of contentment
Write day in and day out

Today I’ll simply breathe deeply
Letting sticky dregs of negativity
Finally seep out of this crumbling body

Hooked I am, have no doubts, quite hooked
Ever since a wee mite I laid eyes on portly grandpa
Making gurgling sounds on his ornate hookah

My vices are mundane
Twin eyes steadily fixated
On otherworldly main chances

Lips parting in wonder, widening
Eyes moistening at predawn as night
Sky gets softly suffused suddenly brightening

Gradually day breaks
Flowers sleepily lift faces
All of life leisurely awakens quickening

What can a heart
So full of contentment
Write day in and day out
