paid off
chinks carved
colander sky
light escaped

sun and sky
night and day
shadow light protagonists
ever feint parry

Pregnant    pause
Spent forces on    second wind
New forces rushing     in sudden coup
Light shadow on      hide and seek mode

Sun vanishing in Houdini horizon’s sleeve
Sky displaying array of rosy hues, gashes blue
Stars diffident, twinkle shyly

Birds homing after day’s forage
Commuters disgorged by buses, trains

Mentally on own trains of thought
Streets, porch lights shine on timed glow

Panhandlers pickup box perches

Readying to retire in makeshift homes

News’ “Good Evening” gives bad news first

Channel switching, families settle down
